If you’re a MD winery and have been in the industry a few years, you probably know who Mike Fiore is. He has one of the biggest personalities in the state while remaining friendly, outgoing, and willing to help anyone out, especially fellow winemakers. Mike, or “Mikey” to a few of us NWC employees, is another OG responsible for putting MD wines (and now spirits) on the map. He was highly respected by Dick and was one of his closest industry friends.

Fun Facts:

1. Mike & Rose Fiore along with Dick Naylor, John and Tim Crouch (Allegro Winery), and Bert Basignani (Basignani Winery) were the original founders of the Mason-Dixon Wine Trail.

2. Mike used to call Dick “Pappa”.

3. Mike’s first commercial vineyard was painstakingly planted by hand.

The Fiore family continues to operate their family run business in Harford County, MD. If you’re in the area, we highly recommend their Sangiovese or if you’re into spirits the Limoncello.
